Employment investigations.

Workplace and employment investigations are often required for allegations or complaints, related to general misconduct, bullying, harassment, discrimination, or any other situation where facts need to be established in order to draw conclusions, before taking any disciplinary action.

Our workplace investigators provide effective solutions to workplace investigations, including bullying and harassment complaint, disciplinary action and employee theft and misconduct. You may have a concern regarding theft or other serious misconduct that requires investigation. Our head of investigations has enjoyed decades working high level investigations within the Police and will ensure a highly sophisticated and efficient enquiry occurs into your issue.

Undertaking an external investigation process means increased objectivity, a confidential external party for all participants of the investigation, and being assured the investigation is unbiased, independent and peer reviewed.

Fully licenced investigators

There are legal risks involved if you are using an external investigator that does not hold the relevant license. We are fully licenced investigators and you can be assured your investigation will be sound and will stand up to external testing should an employee dispute the outcome of the investigation.

Situations where you’ll need an investigation

Sadly workplace bullying is a continuing problem in the workplace, but employers are being held accountable under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992. Employer’s failure to deal with issues of bullying in the workplace could lead to a prosecution and/or a personal grievance claim from affected employees.

Complaints around harassment, discrimination and bullying are increasing significantly and the ERA and Employment Court are awarding larger compensation amounts for hurt and humiliation in recent times.

There is an expectation on all employers to provide a safe work environment and if you have an employee who has raised a concern you must deal with the complaint swiftly and in good faith.

We’re here to protect your business

Business is tough enough without employee theft or other serious misconduct which might include failure to complete duties. Our investigation team has a background in criminal investigations so will ensure you rest easy and have trust and confidence in your team.

If you have received a complainant from an employee about you or another employee you have a duty to thoroughly investigate it. There are issues that can occur if this process is completed internally. Also it is a requirement to ensure any external investigator is a licensed and regulated investigator.

We are the only investigation provider in NZ, that we are aware of, that provides specialist investigators and employment law practitioners.

An investigation must occur before any disciplinary action, and a misstep in the investigation can undermine the entire disciplinary process. One cannot occur without consideration of the other without great risk to the employer. An investigation will help you fully understand the issues that you are presented with and how to best combat them.
